I’ve now completed European travel with Sons #1 and #2, so it’s time for my daughters-in-law to get some time away.
DIL#1 will be travelling to Morocco with me next fall, but right now it’s DIL#2’s turn, and we’re off to Italy on a food tour. She is Italian, and an excellent cook and baker. I’m not Italian but am an excellent eater of Italian food, so this should suit both of us.
Including travel time we’ll be gone for 12 days, 8 of which will be on a small group tour. As always, I’m packing carryon, and after the recent disaster in Frankfurt I won’t be carrying an extra shoulder bag. It’s just my carryon size roller bag and my purse for this trip.
What’s coming along? Including what I’ll pull from this pile to wear on the plane:
- 3 longsleeved shirts
- 1 jean jacket, 2 cardigans
- 3 pr pants (one stretchy, one slim tailored, 1 wide-leg check pattern tailored)
- 1 tee shirt (with a Vespa print on it for our Vespa tour in Rome!)
- 2 sleeveless tops + 4 camisoles to layer under the shirts or cardigans
- 3 scarves; 1 belt; a small mesh bag containing black, pearl, and silver earrings
- Black wide-toe walking shoes
- Raincoat, umbrella, Vessi waterproof loafers
- Nightgown, underthings, socks
- European plug for phone charger
- Not shown: crossbody bag for documents and phone
Off we go!
we will be there together. We arrive in Naples on Friday and then M-F Rome then join Viking on the 16th for a short 8 days from”Rome” to Barcelona

We are interested to read about your experience in Italy with Approach Tours as we’ve considered them for future trips ourselves but haven’t talked with anyone who have travelled with this tour company.

We attended a presentation last week in Toronto from Approach on their tours but are unfamiliar with Inteepid.

Intrepid is an Australian company with a Canadian office. They specialize in semi-escorted small groups (max 12). If this tour works out well, I can definitely see using them again.
