Episode 586 – The Pacific Isn’t

Swells aren’t all that swell, in my opinion.

Today’s noon hour report: 30 knots of wind, gusting to 40, equivalent to 35-45 mph/55-65 kph. A mind-boggling 3500 metres (2.175 miles!) of water below our keel. Sea conditions “moderate to rough”.

“Walk low and wide, folks, low and wide” – Cruise Director Aaron Seifert,Viking Star, World Cruise 21/22.

“Rock and roll is here to stay” – Danny & The Juniors

“It’s going to get worse” – Captain Marcus Jurland, Viking Sky, Monday January 6, 2025.

  2. When we did our 2017 world cruise, we had a fairly rough crossing to Hawaii and then to FP (there were some calm days, though, so hang in there). A couple of the officers told us that the Pacific starts getting calmer in February. But who knows if any of the ‘old’ trends apply anymore.
